Maarten Westermann is a Governance, Risk & Compliance professional with extensive experience leading global teams to implement a company’s mission, strategy, core values, principles and culture, and produce sustainable results.

Maarten has a proven track record of success in strategy and performance, legal risk, compliance, privacy, ethics, integrity and sustainability.  As a lawyer and consultant, Maarten advised executives, boards and their teams at Fortune 500 companies in both the United States and in Europe.  He is well-versed in client relationships at all levels of the organization, overseeing corporate culture and systems, leading transformation projects, advising and implementing risk and controls, and issue mitigation.  

Expanding on his advisory work, Maarten has held positions as Chief Risk & Compliance Officer at large international and publicly listed companies, including Booking.com, KPN, Embla Medical, Nomad Foods and Crayon, where he successfully worked on building a culture of compliance and integrity, improving relationships with internal and external stakeholders including regulatory authorities.  Maarten has broad international and language skills, being native in Dutch and English, and fluent in French and German.

Maarten holds a Masters of Law from the University of Groningen and an international and strategy MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, and lives with his family in The Hague, The Netherlands.
