Lawson Carmichael

Lawson Carmichael is a seasoned strategist, digital leader and non-executive board
director, renowned for his global leadership in professional services. After 35 years,
Lawson pivoted in 2024 to a portfolio career of Board roles and building companies
tackling sustainability.
Lawson serves as Co-founder and Managing Partner at LongLeaf Studios, a start-up
company builder focused on go-to-market and talent strategies in agtech, blue tech,
sustainable textiles and battery storage. Previously, he served as the Chief Strategy &
Operating Officer at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants
(AICPA & CIMA), where he led strategy, B2B sales, governance, digital experience and
human capital while growing the organization’s reach to encompass 700,000 students
and members across 34 countries. Earlier in his career, Lawson served as a pivotal figure
in shaping corporate strategy at Deloitte, where he led initiatives that propelled the firm’s
growth and talent strategy.
Lawson currently serves as a non-executive Board director at Loud Solutions, Biome
Consortia and the Triangle Land Conservancy. Lawson’s academic credentials include a
Bachelor of Science in Organizational Development and Communication from Towson
University, Financial Management at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a
climate fellowship at Terra.do. Lawson and his partner, Sherri, live in Durham, North
Carolina and have two adult daughters living in the Washington DC area.
