Lawson Carmichael is a seasoned strategist, digital leader and non-executive board
director in professional services. After 35 years, Lawson pivoted in 2024 to a portfolio career of Board roles and building companies tackling sustainability.
Lawson serves as Co-founder and Managing Partner at LongLeaf Studios, a start-up climate tech venture studio. Previously, he served as the Chief Strategy & Operating Officer at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA & CIMA), where he led strategy, B2B sales, and human capital while growing the organization’s reach to encompass 700,000 students and members across 34 countries. Earlier in his career, Lawson led corporate strategy at Deloitte, fueling the firm’s growth and talent strategy from $11 to $34 billion.
Lawson currently serves as a non-executive Board director at Loud Solutions, Biome
Consortia and the Triangle Land Conservancy. Lawson’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Development and Communication from Towson University, Financial Management at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a climate fellowship at Terra.do. Lawson and his partner, Sherri, live in Durham, North Carolina and have two adult daughters living in the Washington DC area.
